Luxury Brand Activations by Alice & Olivia
I remember a few years ago, clients would often only require photography and now today, it’s becoming more and more common to receive requests for video and photography. In fact, as we’ll see in this case study, clients are requesting videos on mobile phones to give it a more “unpolished and influencer-style look and feel” to quote the briefs more accurately.
I always ensure that I bring the best equipment available to my gigs - yes even a gimbal for mobile phones. I’m very comfortable colour grading and applying special effects, transitions, etc to my videos whether they be on mobile or a video camera. I plan on writing an article on this topic so keep an eye out for it in the blog’s section.
Izly is an event planner specialising in luxury. She reached out to me to be her main photographer and videographer. On this particular project, she asked me to cover a brand activation that she was leading for a luxury clothing brand called Alice & Olivia in Mayfair. The shop hosted numerous other brands and I was tasked with capturing the crowd, the energy and most importantly the high-status guests who came to enjoy themselves. Below are examples of the images and videos that I captured. The photos were taken on my full frame camera and the videos were using a mobile phone in raw mode.
The measure of success was how impactful the videos would be for Izly’s social media. Her portraits had a similar measure of success, although she shared a unique posting strategy which involved archiving the photos after a period of time to keep her feed as shallow as possible.
